{"id":331,"date":"2008-06-29T18:35:32","date_gmt":"2008-06-29T18:35:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.feedyourkids.com\/blog\/?p=331"},"modified":"2008-06-29T18:35:32","modified_gmt":"2008-06-29T18:35:32","slug":"barbecue-bbq-seasoning-spice-blend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.feedyourkids.com\/blog\/?p=331","title":{"rendered":"Barbecue (BBQ) Seasoning Spice Blend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Barbecue (BBQ) Seasoning Spice Blend<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 Tbsp chili powder<br \/>\n1 Tbsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodandwine.com\/recipes\/edamame-tossed-with-smoky-salt\">lapsang souchong smoky salt<\/a><br \/>\n(or pre-made smoked salt or hickory salt, if you can find it at your grocery store)<br \/>\n2 tsp onion powder<br \/>\n1 tsp cumin<br \/>\n1 tsp paprika<br \/>\n1 tsp garlic powder<br \/>\n2 tsp granulated sugar (&#8220;raw&#8221; or organic sugar, if possible)<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp cayenne pepper<br \/>\n1\/8 tsp dry mustard<br \/>\n1\/8 tsp dried lemon peel<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp celery seed<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp dried thyme<br \/>\ngrind of two fresh black pepper<\/p>\n<p>optional:  1\/4 tsp amchoor powder (available from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kalustyans.com\">Kalustyan&#8217;s<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The amchoor (dried green mango powder) is completely optional, but it does give a sour, tangy flavor and will also help tenderize meats.<\/p>\n<p>Mix all ingredients and store in an airtight container.  This seasoning is delicious as a rub for grilling meats or as a sprinkle on french fries or corn on the cob.
