{"id":248,"date":"2008-01-21T11:31:33","date_gmt":"2008-01-21T11:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.feedyourkids.com\/blog\/?p=248"},"modified":"2008-01-21T11:31:33","modified_gmt":"2008-01-21T11:31:33","slug":"sloppy-joes-version-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.feedyourkids.com\/blog\/?p=248","title":{"rendered":"Sloppy Joes, Version 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_4205.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.feedyourkids.com\/IMG_4205.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"197\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Homemade (high fructose corn syrup free) Sloppy Joes <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 15-oz can tomato sauce<br \/>\n1 cup ketchup (high fructose corn syrup free)<br \/>\n1\/4 cup chopped white onion<br \/>\n1\/4 cup chopped bell pepper (red or green, whatever you have on hand)<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emerils.com\/recipes\/by_name\/baby_bam.html\">Baby Bam seasoning<\/a><br \/>\n1 &#8211; 2 cloves garlic, chopped<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. celery seed<br \/>\n1 tsp. prepared mustard<br \/>\n1 tsp. chili powder<br \/>\n1 15-oz can beans (black, kidney, pinto &#8211; your choice), drained and rinsed<br \/>\n1 pound ground beef<br \/>\n2 scoops <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tribeznutrition.com\/prod_flax.html\">sprouted ground flaxseed<\/a> (available at Costco)<\/p>\n<p>Brown beef until cooked through.  Drain and set aside in a separate bowl or pan.  Saute garlic, onion and bell pepper in the pan (using whatever beef fat residue is left in the pan, adding a tiny bit of canola or olive oil, if necessary) until soft.  Add beef and all other remaining ingredients back into the pan.  Simmer until sauce reaches your desired consistency (10 &#8211; 30 minutes), stirring frequently.
